We bought this for our daughter's 10th birthday - she picked up a love of crepes on a recent trip to Canada. The 13" size is perfect for home use: not too much of a serving but large enough for ample stuffing. The diameter is just within her range - I think the 16" would have been an uncomfortable reach over the hot surface. The Tibos cooks evenly, the crepes lift off with ease, and the whole thing is quick and easy to clean. We started off with the easy spreader and flat spreader but I agree with other reviewers that the round style spreader is the way to go - ended up ordering one. Watching the Krampouz YouTube video was a big help in getting started - a light, smooth touch with the spreader is the best approach. As for my ten year old, she still needs more practice making the crepes, but the easy spreader has helped, and she loves creating dessert crepe creations for friends and family.5-YEAR UPDATE: The Tibos is still going strong after five years of regular use. Batches of crepes a few times a month and the now 15-year old is using this as a griddle for pancakes etc. because it is light and easy for her to handle - our dual element griddle weighs a ton.As said before, the #2 setting is the magic number for 'right' temp and the machine still produces consistent, even heating across the surface. I ditched most of the tools, and picked up a Mastrad All-Purpose 13-Inch silicone Turner (awesome for crepes) and a 5-pack of dowel style spreaders for around $16. I find that once the edges of the dowel start flaring from cleaning in-between spreads, I need to put it aside and grab a fresh spreader. They go back to proper form once cleaned and dry, but flat dowels are key to spreading. If I eventually need to replace the crepe maker, I'll resist the urge to jump up to a commercial machine and get another one of these. The light weight/ease of use has become an important factor. After years of sweating over the stove swirling crepe batter in small pans, I finally purchased this appliance. It is amazing. The crepes turn out perfectly and are much faster than the old way. I also use it for our family favorite Danish pancakes and other thin pancakes. It is almost identical to the crepe makers at the stands in Paris.I took my wife to Paris for her birthday and one of the highlights of the trip was the savory crepes, particularly the Breton masterpieces they serve at Breizh Café. We're back and she wanted me to recreate Paris-style crepes.Finding the right pan was difficult. Most of the pans I looked at were too small. At 13 inches, the Tibos certainly doesn't fall into that category. The price made me wince, especially for something a certain TV chef would refer to as a "uni-tasker." Ultimately, however, it's worth the price to do it right.Let me say I love this crepe maker. It's easy to use and makes crepes quickly and of the size needed to duplicate the savory galettes you find in France. The surface heats quickly and evently. So far we've made both traditional buckwheat crepes with raclette de savoie, pancetta, and crème fraiche and also sweet crepes with Nutella (of course).Other reviews here mention ditching the accessories and I concur with those opinions; they're fairly worthless. Take the time to learn to use a crepe rake, it will pay off. Also, the ladle is just a tad too small to make a full-size crepe; an extra tablespoon helps significantly. Another quibble would be the design of the heating indicator light. Some crepe batter will inevitably launch over the side during the learning process. For some reason, the light is recessed, making it a magnet for semi-cooked batter which is nearly impossible to clean out. Making the light flush to the base would easily solve this problem.Aside from these minor issues, however, the crepe maker itself is the best I've seen, and I did a lot of research. It's not as good as being in Paris, but it certainly goes a long way toward recreating memories. We bought this crepe maker to make a few crepes as an additional product for our vending business. We averaged a couple dozen in a half a day since it wasn't the main product. It worked OK the first time but then it just shut off. After it cooled off, it worked again but we tried it another day and it shut off again. I know it's not made for commercial use but I didn't expect it to shut off after only being turned on less than a couple hours. Just know that this is for home use and probably won't be turned on that long so it will should be OK for the average user. That being said, it's a nice crepe maker. It has kind of a Teflon coating so the crepes don't stick. It doesn't take very long to heat up. Crepes cook a bit too fast so if you want to put Nutella, fruit or other ingredients in the crepe while it's on the crepe maker you'll have to hurry putting them on to heat them up before the crepe burns. Crepes made with this machine are definitely better than ones made with the cheap makers you find in the common stores.Pros:1. Nice large surface. 4 oz of batter will make a full size 13" crepe.2. Cooking surface in non-stick. Easy to pull the crepe off.3. Not heavy so it's easy to move and store.4. Uses normal 110 electricity and 12 amps so it won't throw a breaker in most American homes.Cons:1. Settings are not realistic. Highest setting is 8 but if I put it higher than 2 the crepes burn. Cooks a bit fast even at that setting.2. Can't leave it turned on for very long because it gets too hot and shuts off.3. Tools that come with it are next to worthless. Buy the wooden dowel spreader (on Amazon). That's what the pros use and as long as you drag it through the batter and not try to push the batter, they work great, creating a perfect round crepe.very good indeedJ'adore ma crêpière Tibos!!! Je me répète: J'A-DO-RE!!!Even at the lowest setting, the pan is way too hot to make crepes. The moment you put the batter on the pan, it’s cooked, so spreading it is almost impossible and leads to ripped crepes. I work very quickly and have experience with crepes... not a good product at all. Maybe mine is defective? It’s the only explanation I can think of.Une vrai Crêpière pro fait pour le maisondes résultats comme les professionnelsUn étaleur ingénieux "Easy Crep" fonctionne très bien il faut seulement suivre avec la louche pour ne pas manquer de pâte.Livraison rapides MAIS!!! sans protection la boite est arriver écraser et déchirer, j'aime bien garder mes articles dans la boite original en bonne état, j'ai craint que la crêpière soit brisé vue l'état de la boite. My favourite appliance in my kitchen.I've been making Crepes none stop for my family and friends. So much so that I had to purchase a second one.Love this product and recommend it to everyone.Anti-stick still works as well a year after purchase and many many uses. The crepe maker is a good quality product.. It heats up fast. One of the recipes which was included with the maker called for a temperature of 5. It may have been slightly too hot. This was our first attempt at making crepes and they turned out very good.
