Durable Plastic Hanging Bird Feeder for Parrots, Quakers & Doves - Large & Small Seed Dispenser - Perfect for Cage, Aviary & Outdoor Use

Before my Amazon bird would throw his food all over the place. My Vacuum have more food in it from the floor than the bird would eat. Now since I purchase this food feeder no more messes on the carpet.My African grey parrot LULU just LOVES being able to see the World through a clear glass window instead of the bars of her cage. She sits in there and nibbles for hours sometimes just because she clearly likes the view. I was worried that she wouldn’t fit and that this would be too small for her because of the description but I assure you that there’s even room to spare a little for her and she’s a normal size Grey. I wish I would’ve gotten this along time ago the only suggestion I would have is to have more options for connecting it to the cage because I had to do some rigging in order to get this to fit on my cage and since so many cages are so different just make sure you have an opening that doesn’t have anything obstructing the feeder from laying flat on your cage when the door is open. In my case I had to just remove the door all together because it wasn’t sitting flash on my cage which was a process but still well worth the effort. Cleaning it as a breeze because Her food and unfortunately her poop that still gets caught in the standing area just comes right off with water and soap. The surface is so smooth that everything just kind of slides away.If I was going to make any other suggestions I would suggest that they make sure that the standing area is a little bit shorter on the back end so that birds like Lulu can’t poop inside of the feeding area. Lol it would be so much more convenient if her poop just flat out fell right outside of her box into the cage like it supposed to lol wishful thinking other than that great product! Apologize if there’s any typos here I am talking to text with crazy toddlers running around me.My dad had a Lesser Sulphur Cockatoo for over 20 years and he had developed a bad habit of sloshing the food out of his round bowl which made a huge mess and was wasteful. After my dad passed I took Bart in and quickly switched over to this acrylic box. He was not a fan at first, as most birds are not big on environment changes, but after a day he was curious and hungry enough to try it out. WORTH EVERY PENNY! So much less waste and it gives him a chance to 'forage' through the bin. This particular box is just the right size so I don't think birds much bigger than a LSC could use it easily.My 8 year old caique has a bad habit of trying to eat like a person. He'll pick up a clawful of food with his foot, drop 90% of it and actually eat maybe half a pellet. He was starting to run out of food less than an hour after I fed him, and I was so tired of the waste. I installed this feeder in his cage and the problem has disappeared overnight!It's easy to install (provided it will fit inside your cage door) since it comes fully assembled, although the barebones hooks do leave something to be desired in terms of stability. I wish they had included some sort of mounting brackets instead of the hooks as it sits at a slant, but I managed to rig it to sit in a way that works for my bird.It's only been a few months since I bought this product, but it's already paid for itself in terms of the money it's saved me on food, and I no longer have to walk on a pile of pellets on the carpet around his cage. Great training tool and money saver if you have a messy bird!!I love these boxes, they give my bird a bunch of extra cage room and allow her to see more while she’s eating. Fairly easy to clean and very tidy.As they are, they can be taken off by your bird very easily. I came up with a solution she cant touch, so far. Get two pear screw closure clips or screw quick links and hang those on the bars, take the hooks and put them through the rings so that the hooks are resting outside the cage, secure with a twist tie. It’s amusing watching them try to make it crash down and they can’t. They can come broken out of the box. It needs plastic super bonding glue at the seams, easy fix if you have the patience and 30 minutes. I love mine and so does my caique. We got the large box. Perch color varies.I bought this for my greys and it works beautifully. I bought one for my cockatoo and she doesn't fit in it on the perch. However, if I put her pellets in the front portion she can access them from a perch outside the box. I will need to find a way to remove the installed perch. She can't use it. However, for both birds its great because it does prevent them flinging their food to the floor and alleviates some of their messGot 2 of these feeders for my Grey and my Amazon. They are messy and waste alot of food. One of the feeders had a broken piece so sent it back. The other one had a split seam so Krazy glued it. I tried the remaining one on my Grey first, but he is really freaky and wouldn't go near it for 2 days.I then moved it to my Amazon's cage. She's more adventurous and started chewing the perch right away. I took the feeder out and duck taped the entire perch. Meanwhile, I had ordered another feeder, determined to get the Grey to use it. Finally, he started to investigate it and guess what!Yup, he started to chew the perch. So, duck taped that one also and bought plastic tube that covers a shower curtain rod. Cut sleeves to fit overthe perches. So far so good, but it's just a matter of time til they figure out they can chew that too. Both of them will not eat in the feeders, but they go in to get a piece of food ( I give them pellets and they are expensive! ) and then come back out. Since they have to work so hard to get their food, they eat much more carefully so less waste and less mess. I like the concept of these feeders, but quality control is iffy. Disappointed in the perches and am surprised since this company should know bird behaviour.I am using it for my Rose Breasted Cockatoo. At first she was terrified of it for a about a week or so. I finally got her to go and use it buy putting some of her favorite treats in it. Once she warmed up to it, she goes and eats from it. LOVE!, LOVE! this product. It really does keep all her pellets away from falling all over the floor. It totally keeps everything in her cage and in the feeder. Totally easy to wash. I just run warm water in it to soften anything stuck on the plexiglass and that's it.
