Great for travel especially if you’re on a plane and can’t carry a bunch of bottles around. Recommend keeping it in a ziplock since once you open it it dries up super quickI felt compelled to share my thoughts on these insidious wipes...After receiving them in the mail, I opened the package, pulled a wipe, and smelled a chemical odor emanating from them. It was the same smell of those industrial antibacterial wipes used for cleaning the equipment at the gym I used to work out at. It's a faint odor, but when you know that smell it's hard to forget it.I turned over the package to see these ingredients listed in fine print:Octyl Decyl dimethyl ammonium chloride 0.03990 Dioctyl dimethyl ammonium chloride 0.01995 Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride 0.01995 Alkyl (50% C14, 40% C12, 10% C16) dimethyl benzyl Ammonium Chloride 0.05320 Inert Ingredients 99.86700I did some research and discovered that these are known as quaternary ammonium compounds or quats for short. There's so many health risks associated with these synthetic disinfectants I can't believe Medela would add them to a wipe that's used for cleaning food equipment, let alone for a delicate baby. Simply put, there's no way I'd risk the health of my loved one for added convenience so these are going in the trash. Sad."Quats are efficient at 'sticking' or adhering to surfaces and substrates. This means they leave a residue that's potentially harmful to the health and the environment. " No wonder Medela DOESN'T CLAIM THESE TO BE RESIDUE FREE.If I could find out this information in ten minutes so could they. There's no excuse to expose our most vulnerable one's to these synthetic chemicals with so many alarming studies.The wipes were also too big and wet for my preference, they simply smeared the milk and left a white soapy film.Please think for yourself and your family. I've learned not to place trust in most companies, no matter how large they are. A baby's health is worth so much more than convenience. I'll happily pass on these wipes."The other thing is that quats will linger on a surface long after you have cleaned with them. This means that your exposure (and your kids’ exposure, and your pet’s exposure) continues every time you touch that countertop. In the mice experiments I mentioned above, it took months of re-sanitizing the animal cages that had originally been cleaned with quats until the mice were reproducing normally again. Yikes. Again there is a reason that disinfectant wipes with quats also RECOMMEND AGAINST USING THEM ON ANY FOOD-CONTACT SURFACES (like cutting boards, plates or cutlery, high chair trays etc.) BECAUSE THESE POTENT CHEMICALS CAN CONTAMINATE THE FOOD THEY COME INTO CONTACT WITH, EVEN WELL AFTER CLEANING IS DONE."- Alex ScrantonDirector of Science and ResearchPlease do your homework, your little one is depending on you and your ability to care enough to read about the exposures that may affect their health, it's on you and no one else.Love these! I’m a professional photographer, so usually when I pump at work, I pump in my car. I have no access to running water, and I want to pack everything up quick so that I can get back to working or get going driving home. This makes it super easy to wipe all the parts down real quick. (It’s not completely clean, but it works well in between uses until you are home.) Once I am done for the day and back home, I do a good cleaning with the baby safe dish soap and brushes, dry on the Boon Lawn, etc.I would recommend buying a small set of wet dry bags to use along with these wipes! I first started putting all the parts in a ziplock bag after wiping them all down, but the inside of the bag would get wet or have a little milk, so after I cleaned the parts at home that night, I would have to toss the ziplock bag away. Now I put them in a wet dry bag, and I’m able to keep it all cleaner!I'm a BIG FAN of these wipes! I often pump on the go or at work with the Freemie collection cups. It's a little hard to find a sink, faucet, soap, and drying rack in my car, so these wipes are a Godsend. I can pump in the car or at my desk (or anywhere else), wipe down my cups, and store the pump and the wipes in my pump cooler and am ready to go for my next pumping session, usually on the way home. I'll often wipe down my desk, too, after I wipe my pump, to clean up any drips or just dirt. These wipes save clean up time, because I don't have to go searching for a place to clean the pump and I don't have to wait forever for all the parts to air dry. My baby has never had any tummy troubles from the cleaning agents coming in contact with the pump, and I've never seen any indication that my pump isn't clean, so I'm assuming these wipes are doing a great job at doing their job, which is keeping everything clean!There are only two "downsides" I can see:1. the wipes are HUGE. Like, I don't understand how many parts a typical pump has that warrants wipes that big. SOLUTION: I cut mine in thirds to maximize price and minimize useless waste. Works like a charm!2. the resealable package opening loses stickiness after a while. A few of the wipes in my first package dried out. SOLUTION: I put the whole package in a larger Ziploc baggie. Problem solved!!My baby has been in the NICU since she was born, and unable to breastfeed. I want her fragile body to have the immunity my milk provides, so I am exclusively pumping. I’m at the hospital all day and have nowhere to leave my pump kit out to dry after washing it. I need to make sure my kit is clean, then dry before I store it, so that no bacteria can grow. So I bought these wipes.I’m so glad I did! These wipes clean my pump kit, and clean it well. They are expensive, but worth the cost. They’re still cheaper than formula will be. I can actually get 48 uses out of a pack, though, because I’ll cut them in half. They’re so large and I feel wasteful throwing away a whole wipe that didn’t get full use.Most importantly, they dry fast! So now I don’t have to hunt for a place to wash and air dry my kit. I simply wipe them down and throw them in my bag. These wipes have been a time and stress saver for me. I can imagine they’d be great for working moms, or for middle-of-the-night pumping, if you don’t want to just walk down the hall and pop your kit in the fridge between pumping sessions!
