This is a solid machine, looks good on the counter. The metal surface of the machine is easy to wipe off. And the cutting blade, /handle comes off easily for cleaning. Cutting wheel is sharp and opens cans well. My one complaint is that the cutting blade/handle comes off a little too easy, something that happens frequently with use and you have to be careful to not pull it off when putting your can under the blade. It is also hard to get the can placed under the cutting wheel just right, can take several tries to get it just right. But once you have the can placed properly, it works well. Overall, a good product with just a couple of quirks that are easily fixed. We had this same can opener for 8 years and just recently needed to replace it, but loved it so much, we bought the same one again! Great price, easy to use and clean, doesn’t take up a ton of space, and lasts a long time.Es muy práctico abrelatas a nosotros nos duro muy poco ya que lo usamos muy seguido y el engranaje se desgastóI love my little can opener. At first I didn't know how to use it bc I'm slow af but I figured it out. Great product.Overall it's a decent can opener, but it was the picture that got me. I thought the handle was metal, it's chromed plastic. That is why I gave it 3 stars. But if you are looking for an inexpensive can opener this will do.I bought this to replace a Proctor Silex I bought about 3 years ago at the grocery store that had a plastic handle. On that one, after a year, I had to hold the handle down to keep the motor going. The plastic wore where the handle held the switch lever down and it would slide off. It was a very bad design. The picture looked like this Hamilton Beach had a metal handle. But it is a much better designed plastic handle and switch lever that has some built up reinforcements and stronger improvements. Hopefully they will last longer. I'm not a big fan of plastics on parts that have pressures and strains that can wear or brake them.Other than the plastic handle the knife sharpener is just a "V" shaped hard carbide steel. Not a grinding stone like on some older models. But it works to sharpen a knife. Just remember to keep it straight as you drag it through. The one feature I do like is the height of this model. I can get some taller cans opened without hanging them off the edge of the counter like that last one.I guess I'll have to look at some higher priced models to see if they have the better metal handles.Only positive is it’s easy to clean. Everything about this is faulty and wrong and does not work. I’ve had it over a year now thinking it was just operator error and everyone I know can’t stand it because it takes 30mins to open a can and you sound like your on a ship yard.Quite, good valueWorks well and priced good too . Style takes up small cabinet area.Sometimes it takes many, and I mean MANY, tries to get it going, so frustrating. Hard to get it to latch on in the right place and got worse over time. Got to the point of never expecting it to work. Stressful in the extreme. Customer service kindly refunded my money. It is now headed for the garbage. Can I count the different ways it does not work? Drops cans. Tips over. Stops and starts so you get a new puncture site with every try, ending up with a half opened can. And standing in the kitchen, needing to feed the poor cat, looking for my eyeglasses, again, in case that could help me to see where it should latch on ... Nope NOT happening. Off to buy whatever does work, with the refund. I really wish I had read these reviews, before purchasing, as there is another opener that works in a completely different way, which looks hopeful, so I will try that one. Live and learn, I guess! This is the worst electric can opener that I have ever used. Every time its a battle to get the can in the right magic spot where it will actually puncture and run the mechanism. There are a thousand ways you can put the can up to the blade and have it not fit, or fit but not activate. The first time I used it, it was a struggle. the second time a breeze, since then, hit and miss. I would return it, but I don't have the time or packaging. Interestingly, I found the same can opener today in a pile of junk at our local thrift store, minus the detachable part. Perhaps someone else found it hard to use too.I awarded this appliance a 1 star, only because that was the lowest that I could rate it. From day one, it was difficult to engage the can/cutter to work. It totally refuses to open a 540 ml can. Today, while trying to open yet another 540 ml can, I noticed that the magnet was moving a bit. It was broken! The 10th or 12th time that I tried to use this piece of junk - it fell apart! I threw it in disgust into the garbage (where it belongs). Wished that I'd spent a bit more for something of quality. Far from happy with my poor decision to buy this.I rarely give less than 4 stars when asked to review an item.Conceptually, this is a good can opener. All the components are there EXCEPT the component that lines up the can and holds it in place while the initial piercing of the can takes place. I like to think of myself as a pretty good handy-man/retired cabinet/furniture maker, but this thing had me "all thumbs"; only once out of a dozen or so cans was I able to get it to work without destroying the can and spilling its contents.A second thing about this can opener that I wasn't pleased with was that it says there is a knife sharpener built-in. It is more like a tiny "pair" of honing stones where you draw the knife through a few times to enhance the knifes sharpness - as you might use a chef's steel to keep an edge. The stones don't move, it's not a powered grinding knife sharpener - more than a bit misleading. In conclusion, the leaver is quite short and the piercing blade is not positioned well so it will require two strong hands and a fair amount of agility to operate this thing - In my view, not worth the effort or the price.
