Description

For the first time, three of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan's most dynamic emcees step out together to create a supergroup with a distinctly shaolin sound. Method Man, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon have banded together on their new album of street bangers, Wu Massacre. Joined by fellow Wu-Tang alums Inspectah Deck and Cappadona on several tracks, and featuring production by RZA and Mathematics, Meth, Ghost and Rae's Wu Massacre is guaranteed to satisfy the legions of fans in the "Wu Army." From the soulful street single "Our Dreams," to the thunderous lead-off track "Criminology 2.5," Wu Massacre finds the three hip-hop legends in razor-sharp form.

There's not much here, but it's enough to make an impact.I'll admit it: I was holding my breath for this one; I was hoping for a display of witty, unpredictable talent and natural game...but really (and I'm being fair and impartial here) "The Wu-Massacre" is a modest release. And when I say "modest," I mean that the album is good, even stunning...but there's not enough on it! It's too thin! Again, it's too modest! Anything "Wu-Tang" should not be labeled as "modest." (In fact, the words "Wu-Tang" and "modest" should never be in the same sentence. Be that as it may, this joint is Amazing with a capital A."Criminology 2.5" is a nice update. "Criminology," from Raekwon's legendary Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, was instantly a classic track and "Criminology 2.5" is pretty much the same. And because Wu-Tang is forever, the beat doesn't sound dated or tired. Method Man's verse is bangin' son!"Mef vs. Chef, Part 2" is another "update" track. "Meth vs. Chef" is one of the better tracks from Meth's Tical and the so-called sequel is also fire. The beat is crazy!"Ya Moms [Skit]" is funny...but not as funny as the opening snaps battle on the '93 debut Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) (play track 9 if you don`t know what I'm talkin' about). "Smooth Sailing" is excellent. (I love the hook.) I never get tired of Ghostface. Meth's verse is sweet too.A lot of people hate "Our Dreams." But honestly, I'm not sure where I stand. I like the lyrics, but I was never a Michael Jackson fan. I'm undecided, I suppose. It doesn't really fit the "Wu-Massacre" theme."Gunshowers" is pure gangsta. Meth shines again! "Dangerous" is Raekwon's chance to shine and likewise for Ghostface on "Pimpin' Chipp." What a ride!Tracey Morgan must have stumbled into the studio in order to record "How to Pay Rent [skit]." What a nut."Miranda" is perhaps the best track on the album. All three Clansmen tear it up. I was happy to hear Trife da God on "Youngstown Heist." Trife: keep spittin' that gangsta s--- with Ghost; you two are always on point when you collaborate!"It's That Wu S---" is another excellent track.Thin? Modest? Short? Yes, yes, and yes...but keep in mind: these rap veterans, Raekwon the chef, Ghostface Killah, and Method Man, are three of the most-talented MCs in the game and whatever they touch turns vto gold, even if they don't touch very much.Wu-Tang forever.Peace.
