I searched high and low for an easy-care placemat that is generously sized, I could wipe clean, would protect not only from scratches and heat, but also from spills (most of the PVC mats are woven and moisture goes through! I don't get that design). These placemats are just what I wanted! They are a fun silver color that looks nice with any dishware, have a modern geometric diamond pattern, are quite nicely made, are soft on the backside, and wipe up with ease. I love that I can fit a full-size plate, silverware, glass, and even a bowl (see pic). I looked at other faux-leather placemats and they were significantly smaller. These are perfect! I can't say yet how they will last over the long haul, but I would guess they would be quite durable. I tried spilling some balsamic vinegar and some mustard on one of the placemats and it wiped up so easily. I haven't tried leaving it on to see if it would stain, so time will tell. But I think these will do very well! Note that they are packaged folded, with a crease down the middle. I briefly ironed the backside and that helped, but I was afraid to be too aggressive with the ironing as I didn't want to melt the PVC. I would imagine that over time, the rest of the crease will come out. So far, I'm VERY pleased with my purchase!
