This seat ended up looking and feeling great after I got it installed, but it took a lot of effort. The included hardware wouldn't fit my toilet. The plastic "wing nut" used to tighten the seat underneath was just slightly too wide. Also, the M6 threaded rods they included were too long, but that's because my toilet has a weird bulge on one side of the back. It would have been nice if they included a small assortment of lengths for this issue, though. I tried to cut the rod to fit with a dremel, but getting a clean cut is hard on those, so the cut side would no longer thread into anything.I had to instead buy an assortment of M6 hex bolts off Amazon. (The one I chose had a picture and labels of 1/4", but a description of M6, and it turned out to be true to the description.) Good luck finding long enough M6 bolts at the local hardware store, as you also have to account for the extra space of all the other stuff, plus a bidet if you own one. As the included threaded rods have a phillips head cut into the tip, they're designed to be screwed in BEFORE you put the toilet seat into place, and rods without the screw tips can't be tightened enough without possibly ruining the threads. (I tried.) With the hex head bolts, installing them first wasn't happening, and I couldn't find any M6 threaded rods with a phillips tip to buy ANYWHERE. So, I had to install everything upwards, from below the toilet. It really helps to have a helper hold the seat while you do this, but I did it alone so it's possible.Anyways, since I could no longer use the plastic wing nuts due to the hex head, I had to thread the nuts up (technically, down) to the head of the bolts, place the metal washer next, then the rubber gasket. This all went up from below the toilet, through the toilet, through the plastic "retaining" pieces dropped in from above, through the (wide & thin) plastic gasket, then finally screwed into the toilet seat. Once I got all that loosely threaded and in place, I tightened down the bolts, making sure the hinge pieces didn't rotate in the process. Then, I tightened down the nuts (10mm, by the way) so the seat wouldn't move all around with a wrench, making sure to hold the bolts in place during this with another wrench or a pair of pliers. This was all a huge pain to do while making sure the seat didn't shift around. It helps to have the seat in the "up" position so it's easier to get the bolts into place. If you're doing it by yourself, parts just seem to love to fall into the toilet bowl, especially the thin plastic washers that go right under the hinges. It would REALLY help if those snapped into place, but they only get held down by compression. I had to eyeball everything while level with the toilet rim, to make sure I was threading the bolts into the right screw holes on the hinges. Also, the rubber gaskets that go underneath are pretty flexible. When I tightened my seat down, they bulged around the included metal washers. I thought I was tightening them too hard, but if I loosen the bolts, the seat gets a lot of wiggle to it. Whatever though, the gaskets still do their job, regardless of bulging. Also, the design of the hinges is odd. I understand that it's so the seat can be more "universal", but it's a pain to try to figure out which screw hole you'll end up needing. In my case, the center hole worked best to position the seat at the right spot laterally, but I tried several. A very good tip, measure the distance between the holes on your toilet BEFORE you position the hinges and install the seat, and then use that measurement to swivel around the hinges until you get them at the perfect spacing, while still rotated evenly. If you don't, you'll find one hinge twisted further than the other, and the seat will sit crooked. Even a slight variation can end up with a toilet seat off by several inches. As I said, I had to try a few different screw holes before I figured out which set works best for my toilet. If you use the wrong ones, your seat will sit too far forward or backward. The former means the seat doesn't properly cover the rim, and the latter means that the seat doesn't stay up when you're standing to go to the bathroom. Keep in mind, I'm a guy, so I can stand up while going to the bathroom. I thought I had the seat installed alright one of the times, but then it fell down halfway through going to the bathroom, making... a bit of a mess. The middle is typically the "best" screw hole to use, because it keeps even pressure on the thin plastic gasket, whereas the side holes cause the hinge to raise just enough to make a seam and collect crud.Anyways, hope this helps someone else. From beginning to end, I've spent several hours messing around with this thing. Now that it's installed, the slow-close works perfectly, the seat looks good, and it feels comfortable to sit on. In the end, my girlfriend is happy with it, so I'm happy with it.Nice looking seat!!! So far the ez close works. The inner seat is kinda rough on the cheeks...The seat came a day early. My brother installed it quick fast. I blessed it. It’s comfy & sturdy, plus I like the thickness. So far it’s worth the price. I can’t comment on the potty train aspect.I love the seat, however I ordered round and they sent elongated. I did an exchange and noted I needed round and they again sent elongated. I love the seat but wish they sent the right one. Clearly my order states round seat and packing says elongated. It works for womwn but for men they need to hold the seat up or it closes as they are are peeing.I’m sorry that I ordered this. First, the description said round, it was elongated. I should have stopped right there and returned it for a refund instead of exchange. I tried and tried to get this seat adjusted properly, I can’t even remember how many times I took this seat off to try to get it to stay where it’s supposed to stay! And, finally, it broke…..Of course, the return period has ended…so disappointingWe've had this for about 3 weeks and although it was a little complicated to install for my husband(the holes didn't line up right to our toilet) I love it!! The design is perfect for our bathroom and I love the soft close!!
