The suction cup holds very well and the suction rubber cup is large. I gave 4 stars overall because once I took the cardboard off the holder, the indicator kept turning and was not stable. I just took a piece where the cardboard came attach to the indicator and attached to the center where it turns. It now only turns to "Clean" or "Dirty" when I turn it. The "Clean" part of the indicator is clear and not white and the "Dirty" part is all black background. If you have a black dishwasher, you may not be able to see "black Dirty". If you have a white or stainless steel dishwasher, it will not matter the "Clean" is clear and "Dirty" is all black. It would have been better to have it the background for "Dirty" in white with "Dirty" in black lettering. I have not had any problem with the suction cup coming off. This has not moved or had to be reattached since I first put it on my dishwasher door.I like this product, I bought one and a friend liked it so I gifted it to them. They are cheap enough, so I got another. Some people with or without dishwashers might think why would I need something like that for? If you don't have a non-human powered dishwasher (other than your kids), then you probably don't need one unless you are going to gift it to someone.But... for those of you who do have a dishwasher. This would be a very handy accessory for your dishwasher. Usually, before you load your dishwasher with dirty dishes, you might take the time to rinse off your dishes. And if you do them on a daily basis and they don't get disgusting and crusty with dryed on food because they have been sitting in the sink for a week, at a quick glance they may appear clean.Well, this is where this handy little gadget comes in. Whoever loads the dishwasher with dirty dishes spins the indicator so that "Dirty" is up. Or if you load the dishwasher and run it, then you can spin the indicator to read "clean". It takes the guess work out of deciding weather or not you have a dishwasher full of clean or dirty dishes. If you are like me and actually unload the dishwasher after the cleaning cycle, I usually spin it back to dirty, because as I use dishes, pots and pans, and utensils during the day, I take the time to rinse them and put them in the dishwasher as opposed to filling the sink and counter space with pots, pans and dishes.I felt like doing this little narrative as opposed to doing a one liner that simply states "Works Great".By the way the indicator sticks to the washer door via a suction cup on the back. Just a little water or spit and it sticks to the door for months. Occasionaly it falls to the floor. I just re-wet the suction cup and it sticks back on.I would recomment this product to anyone owning a dishwasher.I wanted one of these because my new washer has only internal buttons and no lock, soI only know that it is on by putting my ear close to the door and listening for water wooshing, and I only know that the cycle has run by pulling out various items and inspecting for cleanliness. So this definitely helps . . . as long as your partner remembers to spin the dial. My two notes are that (1) this is a suction cup, not a magnet as I had expected, so the first time I stuck it on, it fell off (suprisingly loudly) 5 minutes later, but water and firm pressure have been employed, and it has remained afixed for the last week (unless my boyfriend has resuctioned it without my knowledge); and (2) the spinning dirty/clean indicater is a little chitzy, as in it is a little wobbly and not a smooth spin. That being said, it was so inexpensive it was an add-on item and it does the job just fine and it would be insane to expect a $2 piece of rigid plastic stuck to a piece of flexible plastic to run like a fine tuned German car. So, don't ne insane. Buy this $2 dishwasher indicator, wet the suction cup with whatever is hand, press it firmly to your dishwasher, and go on about your day, happy that you won't make the mistake of eating a piece of cake with a fork that tastes suspiciously of last nights spaghetti sauce. This design is minimal while also pleasing to the eye, I enjoy the "yin yang" styling and quick ability to rotate the wheel without removing or scraping the unit across the surface of our dishwasher. There are only two flaws I could find after about a month of use, the suction cup is strong, but the back section sticks to the wheel at times and portions of the black coloration have been retained by the suction cup surface. Once I put a very light coating of silicone sealer on this there were no problems however. Additionally, the center peg which the wheel rests on is nice and tight as you install it, but does not offer enough friction as it is being used; especially when the dishwasher door is being opened and closed often. I have found that the wheel will wander on its own, getting stuck in a halfway position or spinning around entirely which can confuse guests who want to know if they can load the dishwasher at a glance (the entire point of this product.) If you can live with the tradeoffs of an easy to switch design this is a nice piece and should serve you well. At the price, I really cannot complain.I love this little dishwasher dial. I was a little skeptical at first because what I was really looking for was something that said dirty on one side and clean on the other, like the old school "Open/Closed" signs businesses hang on their doors, and I thought this having both words on one side would create opportunity for confusion, but it is actually really awesome. I bought this almost a year-and-a-half ago and it is still holding up quite well. We have a basic, white Whirlpool dishwasher and since day-1 the suction cup has held strong, and, though it feels very flimsy and easy to turn, the dial does stay exactly where it is set. Our dishwasher does have a light that indicates when the cleaning cycle is complete, but once the door is opened the light goes out, and in our house, for some reason, people seem to think the dishes being clean means they can reach in and get what they need and leave the rest for someone else to put away. This really does take the guessing work out of doing dishes.Very clever rotating sign to indicate if the built in dish washer has finished cleaning. Does not like painted surfaces, but after weeks of use we only occasionally have to re-attach it. Very pleased. The suction cup has good sticking power and the clear indicator lets everyone know if the washer is full of clean or dirty dishes!. There was some very slight damage to the edge but not enough to warrant a return.Good for an integrated dishwasher with no visible buttons, etc. But you have to train people to use it!Good idea but I had to send mine back as the clean/dirty sign were on the reverse side so I couldn't use it.Absolutely brilliant, does the job and doesn't fall off like one's I had before
