I thought this would be like my others which have steel mesh.. This doesnt its more like a cheese grater. Thats not so bad, was my error however mine was super sharpi had to sand it down... Works ok it holds my pellets well and built semi like how my others do but my entire thing was sharp, the grater buts and even the edges theyd be putting their necks over... Im giving it 2stars because thonit was $3 cheaper then what i usualy get i had to put about an hour or twos work into it making sure my newest litter of babies (surprise litter, then now another because they wasnt found b4 he got her) dont loose toes or lives..Like i said tho it works ok. Holds my pelleta just fine even the broken halvs stay put.. If u like to mount ur feeder outside of the cage it can be a perk but mine was sharp actually cutting me on the lid. I value my time at more then $1 per hr so def wont buy this model again just incase but if if ur an upcoming rabbit breeder and wanting to stock up and/or have free time to possibly sand away at hazards its nice.. Def a diamond in the rough (especialy sense they cant guarentee u QC)These solid-bottomed feeders are hard to find locally, especially in quantity, so I took a chance on ordering on here, despite some bad reviews. Honestly, yes, they are kind of crappy, but they work for my purposes (feeding quail). Rabbits (which we also have) are more vigorous with their feeders, and I could see them happily tearing these apart in a few short weeks or days, since the rivets are rather poor quality. Also, if you are planning to use them for rabbits, you might think twice and get a sturdy mesh-bottomed sifter feeder, as it's not good to allow the fines/dust to build up in the bottom of the feeders. Dust = sneezing, allergies, respiratory infection, or mold problems. They did arrive fairly quickly, though...I just wish that they would have been a bit better made for the money.I used this for a chicken feeder....I originally bought this in hopes of reducing feed waste by my chicks. Other chicken reviewers say they love it for their chicken feed, I did not like it. Well, the gravity feeder concept on this product seem to work way too well. The chicken feed just keeps pouring out when the chicks eat, they weren't even scratching at the food either. I don't recommend this product for chicken feed. It's probably best as its original feeder intentions...for bunnies.I ordered several for our rabbits. Half of the feeders were not properly put together. They bottom of the feeder is held together on both sides by a rivet. The rivets were torn through or never punched a hole to hold. Also the rivets that did hold were not holding well and created large gaps. The opening is not large enough to allow our rabbits to get to their food if it gets low in the feeder. (So you cant just feed a limited amount we have to fill it up for them to get to it) Lastly, when you open the top to put food in the top opens in a way that catches the cage wire. This prevents you from opening it when it is hooked to the cage. So instead of using the cage hooks to hold it to the cage we had to wire them on so that we could open the top to put food in. We had to make the opening where the rabbits eat their food larger so they could get to their food as the feeder is almost too deep and they cant get to the food. Total waste of my money, poorly made, will never buy again. Only reason I bought was because of free 2 day shipping. Price was only $1 less then other better made products but, I wanted them sooner than I could get from another seller. However, now I totally regret it and will have to buy others. To get this to fit into the cage from the outside, you will need to cut the wire one row higher to get it to fit due to the angled design, and then after it is in, it moves around due to the loose fit. The feeder was not put together correctly, and so the hangers did not work to keep it upright; a bungee cord, zip strips, or some sort of strap are required to keep it from leaning out of hole. The feed does not flow to the bottom by itself...not all the time. I'm using small pellets, smaller than what is in picture, and I must tap the bottom to get it to drop. The creases of the feeder are thin and do not seem they would feel good if a bird, or bunny, jumped on or ran into it. Be very careful to look over your feeder before considering to cut an expensive cage to use it.I purchased two of these. One was perfect for our guinea pig pellets. If you are planning on using this for pellets, go for it. The pigs couldn't chew up the sides and they have no trouble reaching their food. It is large enough to hold enough food for about 2.5 lb of food. We only need to give them fresh fruit and veggies daily and a bunch of hay. The other feeder we intended to use as a timothy hay feeder, but it didn't work. We tried all different types of hay, but the hay gets jammed and the pigs can't reach it.These are great! Keep the food contained and my rabbits also like to use them as a perch to look at me(if I happen to have treats) or the world. They will not work for even medium rabbits though, buy a bigger size. My 11 lb California rabbit can't get her head in to eat. But our 5 lb lop mixes are very satisfied with the perches that feed them! For the price, it costs less when compared to others. Made in the same way as the others. Gave it only 4 stars because the cover is hard to open and close. However, I like it better than others that only have a metal screen that tends to cut open after awhile. The bottom on this feeder is metal with holes perforated in it that will last longer.
