These things are great!!! Hands Down! I bought one and used it for the last two years. I just bought a second one for my boat because they’re that good. The ergonomics of the handle and/or how it operates makes for pulling in those heavier fish a breeze!Pros: Product (quality-wise) is well-made.Cons: Has a glaring design issue that renders it useless.The ultra-grip is well-made. The materials do not feel cheap and the fit and finish are above average. But it has a serious design flaw that I don't understand why other reviews don't mention: the black cap on the end of the handle.As one other review mentioned, the cap is used to adjust the scale (although there's no instructions with the packaging that mentions this). When I received the grip, I calibrated it with a 10 lb dumbbell and saw that the scale was off, it read only about seven pounds. The cap functions basically as a screw; with the dumbbell still attached, I twisted the cap and adjusted the tension on the spring until the scale read correctly. But there is no way to "lock down" the cap once you've adjusted it. It is not under tension of any sort and can continue to spin freely. Because the cap can continue to spin freely, it has fallen out three times. And when it falls out, there is no tension on the scale portion of the grip, rendering it 100% useless. I fish from shore a lot, and thus walk around with the grip attached to my backpack. Simply walking around is enough to back the cap out of the hole that it is screwed into. The first time it fell out, I found the cap in the trunk of my car. The second time the cap fell out was when I reached for the grip to use it and realized that it was "broken"; I found it lying next to my feet. The third time it fell out, I never found it. As I have no idea of when it happened. Please understand that the cap does not fall out from use (I have used it literally half a dozen times perhaps on toothy fish like pike) but instead it falls out from simply carrying it around!I don't understand why the scale isn't simply calibrated at the factory and then "set" so that it doesn't change, this seems like simple logic. Instead, if you tighten the cap all the way down, the scale is off, so you are forced to back it a third to halfway out of the hole, making it loose. And because it's so loose, it'll fall out at some point simply by being carried around.I highly recommend buying a different product that doesn't have this design flaw. After a month and a half, my ultra-grip is now only partially functioning (the gripper still grips, but the shaft has a lot of play since there's nothing providing tension anymore).Buen producto aunque llego dañado hice el reclamo y el envío del reemplazo fue rápido , muy útil para sujetar peces grandes y fuertes. Found a spot where the bull reds were hiding this last Wednesday and Friday. Wednesday, caught a 36" 20# & then Friday, caught a 42" 25#. Before that, my small keeper trout weren't enough to test the scale on the Ego. It weighed those reds perfectly and allowed me to pull them back over the rail of the kayak back into the water giving them a little oxygen and then releasing them back into their world. The ego worked flawlessly and it was two great days of fishing!This item is junk. I used it to grip a small catfish and one of the jaws snapped right off. The metal is very low quality. I bought it because I have a ego brand net and love it, but these grippers are real junk. Definitely do not buyIt's mini, but its got a wide jaw. it's perfect just what I'm looking for. clip right into my belt. money well spent for this little tool. highly recommend this.I love this lip clamp, it has served it's purpose with heavy bluefish, Fluke, porgies, bass you name it. I get compliments on it all the time and asked where did I get it. I love it i make sure its clean at the end of the day and oil it at the end of middle of season. I am confident it will last me many many years of good use. And its far better quality that other products in similar price range.The Ego Ultra Gripper Tool has a comfortable design and it was easy to calibrate the scale. My daughter can’t wait to hold some fish!haven't had to use these yet but product does feel very durable
