I used Nic-A tone Toner solution on some ancient coins of bronze, copper, brass and gilted bronze. The chemicals in this particular solution were in excellent balance allowing several layers in controlled toning of details brought out during electrolysis cleaning over seven days a sixteen session dipping. I was absolutely amazed and satisfied with the results. You could not tell the coins had been cleaned ,no marks, rubs or nicks were detectable . A red patina will result on brass if toned too much beyond the nominal . Two layers only, dry ten minutes between layers. Air dry, no hair dryer !!hjor996
