Had this for a few weeks now and I love this thing.I was sick of being limited to what I could put into my shakes with a hand shaker, so I decided to get a blender. Then I realized I didn't want to give up the counter space. So I settled on this GE immersion blender and I'm glad I did. Cleaning is super easy, I just twist off the top and throw it into the top rack of my dishwasher. Then when its done I twist it back into place. It blends my peanut butter in seconds into my shake.Plus it looks pretty good with stainless steel accents.Speaking of stainless, since I make smoothies regularly, I bought a 4-pack of stainless steel 20oz cups on here for like $16 which are the perfect complement to this immersion blender. Stainless steel is the one material you dont really have to worry about damaging with the blades.Love this immersion blender. I usually choose my kitchen tools based on Cook's Illustrated reviews. However, after doing research on both the CI recommended Braun and the GE, I opted for the GE,which is comparable in every way, but has a stronger motor.I thought I'd use this blender to make smoothies and puree soups. I have made both, with excellent results. However, the big surprise is that I use the salad dressing/sauce attachment .I thought it would be one of those add-ons that just take up valuable kitchen drawer real estate.Wrong.Our family is lactose intolerant, and I have used the attachment to make nut-based, lentil-based, bean -based purees and creams almost daily. The sauces produced elevate a simple salad to the kind of lunch salad you pay $10.99 for.But the thing we use the blender most for is to make frothy coffee. (Use wand attachment.) Heat 30 calories worth of almond milk with one packet of stevia, half a teaspoon of sugar,a pinch of salt, and a tablespoon of Nescafe decaf-this is a case where the brand does make a difference, cheap decaf is sour and lacks depth- and froth away. My adult kids no longer buy Starbucks as a treat. We also own a Vitamix, which we still use where you need a flawlessly smooth emulsion- say, when you are whipping homemade cashew milk. The immersion blender leaves a tiny bit of graininess in nut-based sauces, which is ok for almost everything except whipped cream or very fussy soups. One thing I'll say is that I cleared out my International Drawer where I kept stuff like sushi mats and Indian spice tins, and allocated that space for just my immersion blender and hand mixer. Being able to get at the tool makes all the difference.Oh, and the thing that makes this in some ways more useful than the Vitamix is that I wash all of the small and simple parts in the top shelf of the dishwasher. When I realize I need the wand again I just grab the stick from the dishwasher, rinse it fast, and try something new- most recently, sugar free jello, which is more interesting when it is full of bubbles.Have fun. I'm sorry I waited so long.Works great for making mayo and salad dressing. You just put everything in the jar at once then blend. You don't have to drizzle the oil in slowly like you do with a regular blender. It takes about 30 seconds. One egg, 1 Tbs. red wine vinegar, 1 Tbs. Dijon mustard, 1/4 tsp salt, 3/4 to 1 cup avocado oil. Or if you want to pastuerize the egg first, use 2 egg yolks instead of the 1 egg, add the 1 Tbs vinegar and 1 1/2 Tbs water. Put in a cup and whisk. Microwave 8 seconds at a time stirring with a clean fork or spoon after each 8 seconds until the temp reaches around 160 (basically until it's just ready to start cooking or if there's a little white in it just until the white cooks a bit). I use an instant read digital thermometer. To turn the mayo into Caesar dressing I add some fresh garlic, a little water to thin it, and a little parmesan and blend. Yummy! Use fresh garlic, the stuff in the jar smells good but really has no flavor.Muy practico para el uso domesticoThis was larger than I thought it would be, but love it all the same. Very powerful and very easy to use and clean. Well worth the money.Good productlove the options. works great. This hand blender is very powerful. Also super nice sturdy metal construction. I only ever pulse on the lower setting. It’s too strong otherwise, but honestly not complaining. It’s great. Just don’t get water in the top of the blade piece. Wash carefully by hand.
