Description

EcoBreeze 2.2.1, Smart Fresh Air Cooling With Filtered Outdoor Air Natural cooling has been around forever, but now it can be automatic, affordable and easy to install. It is the game-changing air conditioning alternative that's desperately needed as we come out of the warmest decade in history. Fresh Filtered Healthy Air (substitute for indoor air quality and move to first spot) Replace the stale air in your home with fresh outdoor air. EcoBreeze 2.2.1 has a convenient pull out filter that traps pollutants. It filters out pollen, dust and other pollutants to cool with healthy clean air. An optional high efficiency filter (MERV 13) also eliminates viruses, bacteria, smog and smoke. Available on Amazon. Get clean outdoor air and avoid the high cost of air cleaner filters. Save on Utility Bills Outdoor air is a clean renewable energy source that can be used to transform how we cool our homes. The key is to maximize the use of nature’s favorable daily temperature variations to save on utility bills and reduce the need for expensive air conditioning. Cool air is available on many spring, summer and fall nights in most of the US. The cost to transferring outdoor air to help cool our homes is 97% less than cooling with air conditioning, it pays to use it every time it is available. In most climates Ecobreeze 2.2.1 pays for itself in 3 to 5 years. Unlike traditional window fans, Ecobreeze 2.2.1 will automatically maximize the use of outside air cooling every time it is available. You don’t have to be home to open the window or to turn a fan on and off. The fan does use energy to transfer the outdoor air but the energy efficient motor that uses as little as 7 watts of power on low speed. It is so efficient is uses 70% less energy than traditional window fans. Seamlessly switches to AC when needed Outdoor air cooling is great when it is available but it may not provide enough cooling on hot days. EcoBreeze 2.2.1 has its own thermostat set point. Set it below the AC set point to automatically use outside air when it is available. On nights when it is cooler outside and indoor temperature is above your set point, the Smart Fan automatically brings in cool outside air to lower the room temperature. When the outdoor air is too hot or too humid, EcoBreeze 2.2.1 seals up to keep the cool air inside. As the indoor temperature rises above the AC set point the AC will turn on and cool the room down. Increasing the difference between set points will store the cool air, increase the energy savings and delay the need for air conditioning during the day. Automatic Turbo Mode for rapid cooling and Automatic Quiet Mode for a comfortable night of sleep Automatic turbo mode maximizes cooling when it is available and needed. Switch to automatic turbo mode in the morning to fill your home with cool morning air and reduce the need for energy intensive air conditioning. In the evening the turbo mode will switch on as soon as the outdoor temperature drops to rapidly cool bedrooms down for a comfortable night of sleep. Switch to automatic quiet mode during the night to minimize fan noise. In the morning switch back to turbo mode and repeat the cycle. Read more Variable Speed EcoBreeze 2.2.1 is designed to maximize your cooling while minimizing your electricity use. The fan is programmed to run on the minimum speed to meet the cooling need based on the temperature set point and outdoor temperature. In a typical night it starts on low speed, gradually increases the speed as the temperature drops and then gradually decreases the speed as it nears the set point. This maximizes energy savings and maximizes running on low quiet speeds. Easy To Install Ecobreeze is designed to be easy to install. All you need is a pair of scissors to cut the weather-strip and the side foam panels to fit your window. The unit fits an opening up to 36” wide and extra expanders are available (on Amazon) for wider windows. There are 3 different models available: Horizontal installation for double hung windows, vertical right for slider windows that open from the right and vertical left for slider windows that open from the left (when looking out the window). Humidity and Rain Control Ecobreeze 2.2.1 has a variable humidity lock out control that can be adjusted based on climate zone and personal preferences. The lockout continuously compares indoor and outdoor humidity to avoid cooling with humid outdoor air. The humidity lockout can be turned off in dry climates. Rain also stays outside. The air intake is designed so the unit can cool even during rainy weather Great for the Environment While our planet is warming, using and producing air conditioning equipment exacerbates climate change. The HFC refrigerants we use have a global warming impact(GWP) of 2000 times more than carbon dioxide. The energy used to run ac comes from power plants, including coal fire plants that also contribute to global warming. One of the less known issues is that the heat produced to cool our homes is exhausted into the outside air, which adds to the temperature rise in our cities. While AC is needed for hot humid days, substituting natural sustainable cooling whenever it is available is an action, we can all take. This does NOT cool a bedroom down or filter the air. Don't waste your money like I did. It's noisy and not worth it at all. A window fan works better. This is a review based on the Ecobreeze 2, which I got in March of 2020 for a little less than $300 but is no longer offered on Amazon, with this one, the 2.2.1, in its place. This is a fantastic idea in theory, but in practice, well ... (mine broke)The Good: They addressed exactly the issues that my Ecobreeze 2 had (except one).- The ability to turn off the lit display is great (my model was bright in a dark bedroom, almost like a bright nightlight or leaving the shades open with a streetlamp on outside, but the new model can be turned completely dark).- Apparently it also has a new quiet mode, which sounds like a fantastic idea, since mine was very noisy.- Has a HEPA filter.- Does seem to cool the room a few degrees at night (but nothing like an air conditioner).- It is a great idea in theory to save MONEY (and energy!).The Bad (in story form): I bought and used the earlier model for a while in the summer of 2020 at night, even though it was quite noisy in my bedroom (much noisier than my HEPA filter, which I also run in the bedroom. My HEPA filter is a nice white noise, whereas the Ecobreeze 2 was too loud -- like an industrial fan -- but this may not be as much of an issue with the newest 2.2.1 model, see above). Eventually it just got to be too annoying, and I just used my air conditioner instead, but I left the Ecobreeze in place in the window since I didn't want to give it up completely. My Ecobreeze was a left hand vertical unit that was sticking out under my second-floor window awning, and by the time spring of 2021 came around, a bird (looked like a finch) had decided to build a nest on top of the unit, a nice place in the shade away from cats and squirrels. Fine with me, since I wasn't using it anyway. Eventually, summer came around again in 2021 and the finch(es?) had hatched and bolted so I decided to give it a try again (maybe I had mellowed and it wouldn't sound so loud). Unfortunately, the power did not come on at all, so I took it down out of the window, removed the bird's nest, from the top, plugged it into a different plug, and crossed my fingers, but unfortunately it was still dead. How a bird's nest built on top (not really in the intake grate) would mess up the circuitry and kill the unit, I had no idea. It was basically just exposed to the elements of one year in Los Angeles, except it was NOT getting rained on since it was protected by an awning. So I'd say this is the main problem -- not a reliable unit to be in place exposed for too long. The Ugly: it now sits unused on my floor, covered in dust, like a piece of clothing that you just can't give up because it looked so good in the store, but ... sadly I think I'll have to throw it away.I hesitate to write a bad review because I want the company to do well and keep improving it, but figured I'd let you know in case you expected it to last a long time sitting in a window... don't!
