It (Litterbox) came packaged in a cardboard box. Inside the box it was wrapped in a big plastic bag. A sheet of paper with instructions and directions for setting the lid on was inside the plastic bag.. Nothing to it! It uses a little more litter because it's larger than a standard litter box. Now for the good part! I have dark floors that are unforgiving. They show everything that's on them. So I've tried numerous litter boxes. My cat is very old so I was afraid he wouldn't be curious enough to go down inside it to use the pan. But he took to it right away. Not one accident! Then I noticed zero litter on the floor! Then I noticed the odor was less! (I have a nose like a bloodhound!) The box also has a little hook on one corner that holds the scoop. I have a big metal scoop that's heavy and it was as if it was made for it. To say I'm pleased isn't enough. I can't believe I've lived 14 years without it! Plus it's not expensive! It's one of those things that is simple but works the best! I highly recommend this!My husband ordered this, I never would've spent the $25 on this when I could've just gone to target and got a storage bin for around $10 and cut a hole in the lid (that's basically what this is) BUT with that being said husband ordered this, I came home from work, and there it was. We have two cats, and one of them is a jerk he purposely flings litter out of the box, and we went through three other litter boxes that were XL size and deep; we put the mat thing down that you can buy. It did not matter he flings it across the floor. Cats and their attitudes, man!! So this has eliminated that problem. There is still a little bit around the box from what was on their paws, but we don't have to sweep five times a day now. Smell-wise, I don't know if it helps with that because before this box, we switched to a more expensive type of litter (again, I wouldn't have, but my husband did it, and again it was a great idea, lol) so the smell was almost non-existent before even getting this so I can't comment on how that does with this.We have a 2 cat household. I've had the cat genie automatic cleaning one (a piece broke and it flooded my downstairs and the company repaired the damage and I believe now uses a metal fitting in lieu of the plastic one that broke on my unit). My cats were never super in love with it and they would always prefer to use a standard box instead. I've got the Nature's miracle automatic cleaning cat box currently which honestly is NOT worth the extra mess it tends to make. I've stopped using the automatic cleaning function completely and just scoop it like a regular cat box because litter always gets out around the collection container and my cats must pee more than other cats and they like to pee in the same corner of the box which means that after the first scoop or two, all the waste is piled up on one side in the collection container which prevents it from closing and so the odor can get pretty bad if I don't empty it multiple times a day. In need of a second litter box for the laundry room as one of my feline overlords has decided to occasionally guard the upstairs box, I purchased this praying that they would not be physically able to make the same kind of litter projectile mess that they manage with the other box. my prayers were answered. I saw previous reviews about the handles making it difficult to clean and can happily confirm that this no longer is an issue as those handles are gone now. It has a handy hook for holding the scooper right there on the outside of the box. I use a small hand boom to brush any litter that has collected on the lid and not fallen back down in the holes toward the holes before I open it to scoop it. And I literally am only having to sweep the laundry room once a week, that's how little litter is escaping this thing. When I got it, I immediately filled it up with high quality clumping litter and I introduced each cat to it individually by plopping them right inside it so they would know what it was. Then I put the lid on and walked away. To my delight, the next morning there was no puddle on the laundry room floor where my more timid cat had started resorting to urinating on when the jerk cat was guarding the upstairs box and there were three clumps of waste in the box. The cats still seem to prefer the upstairs box as that one always has more waste in it each day when I scoop it but I'm seriously considering purchasing a second one to replace that monstrosity of a box box that has the janky auto-scooping function that I stopped using. Even though that open box upstairs has pretty high sides, I have to sweep that bathroom daily and we still end up with some litter in the hall outside the bathroom that gets tracked out on kitty paws. Seriously, my cats can defy laws of physics with their litter-throwing shenanigans. The only reason I haven't already replaced it is that they still do seem to prefer the open top box upstairs since they clearly use that one first every day. So, if you're still reading.... Don't spend your money on super expensive self-cleaning boxes that your cats may not even want to use (sorry cat genie, i wanted to love you) or that make tons of noise and only do a so-so job of scooping the waste (sorry Nature's Miracle autoscooping box, I wanted to love you too). This is the box. It takes me less time to scoop this manually than it takes to clean up the mess the auto cleaning box makes trying to do it's thing and the amount of litter that hits the floor out of this box is miniscule. I only wish the manufacturer would make a ramp that attached to the outside of it for those with older cats that don't jump as well.I hate cleaning the litter box - like HATE it. My genius idea was to take the disposable litter trays (the thick cardboard type ones) and place down in one of these that I already had. They fit exactly perfectly. Now all I have to do is pick up the old one, throw it in the trash and put a new one in. Bonus is that it keeps from the cat from pawing litter everywhere and I can buy the cheaper non-clumping litter.I ordered this due to limited space for a litterbox, and I wanted to try a top entry litterbox to see if it made less mess. The top entry component has worked out well with my 2 cays, and they use it without issues (I transitioned over a month or so with the old litterbox out until they got used to the new one). Quality is about what you'd expect from a standard litterbox. The lid does flex slightly under significant weight, but is generally sturdy and not an issue for my 10 lb cat (or my lighter domestic shorthair). Cleaning is as easy as any box, although my one pet peeve is that there's a small raised circle of plastic in the center bottom so the bottom isn't completely smooth. Overall, I'd buy it again, especially considering the prices of other top entry litterboxes. We have three dogs who all love kitty poop treats ? this cat box keeps the dogs out and is easy for the cat to figure out. Lid on top opens up for an easy clean. I use wonder kitty litter box inside so all I have to do is remove the disposable cat box and put a new one inThe only reason I was interested in a top entry litter box was because some people mentioned it keeps the litter in the box, it definitely does! My boys don’t kick out litter, it’s more like it stays trapped in their paws. Even with waffle litter mats the litter was all over the house, hooded boxes didn’t help either. This top entry box is the ONLY thing to keep the litter where it needs to be! If you have the same problem with your cats, don’t hesitate to buy this. They transitioned to it very easily As well. This box especially is very spacious, it would work for large cats very well.Ours arrived broken, and the litter skitters over the top, not going into the holes. The box also has an indentation in the base, and cat pee clumps into that indentation, making scooping this box a real nuisance. Cheap plastic, considering the cost. I would not buy again. The photos will make you believe the item includes a sort of bag that will make cleaning easier, it doesn't. It's just two pieces of plastic.Below the opening there is a raised part of the floor, seems to be designed to carry the litter upside down (why???), and it makes it difficult to clean. It does the job of limiting the amount of litter that gets out of the box, could be way more practical and is really pricey for just plastic.I have a litter box that is pretty open and my cat loves to dig quite a lot in her litter box. As a result the litter goes everywhere and it makes a huge mess. I have put the litter box in the washroom and within a week of me not cleaning the washroom the litter is just spread out everywhere which is a bit annoying. I was looking for another littler box. Something that would stop the little from going outside my cats litter box. At first I was thinking about just getting another pan with a higher wall but then I ran into this. It looked interesting and was fully enclosed as well except for the entrance for the cat at the top.It arrived quickly and after I unpacked it I noticed it looked quite bigger than in the picture. It was quite tall. It is 14 inches deep and that is the height as well. The container seemed to be made from a good quality of plastic and looks sturdy. The lid is white and has one giant cutout for the cat to go in and out of the litter box. The lid also has a bunch of small holes on it so that litter that may get attached to your cat's paws go back in the litter box instead of into your home which I thought was nice. It separates from litter box for easy cleaning and snaps back into place. I took some of my cats old litter and put it into this litter box (kind of gross) and mixed some new litter as well. Before I did that I put some treats inside the litter box when I just opened it so she can associate good things with it. I picked her up and put her into the litter box as well just for her to get used to going there. Also, I put this litter box in the exact spot as the old one so there is not too much change for my cat. At first it looked like my cat was hesitant of this litter box and did not want to use it. However, after I went to bed and checked the next morning she did do her business there which was a great relief for me and I am happy with that. Another thing that I think is nice is that with this litter box there is quite a lot of space inside and I find you don't have to clean it everyday. With this litter box you can clean every 2-3 days which is cool.I did take one star off for a reason. When you get this and see it you realize that it is just a storage container with a fancy lid and it is a bit pricey for that. Also, I would just caution people that do have older cats and are used to a certain type of litter box that this may be quite a big change for them. My cat seemed hesitant but in the end used but I can see many cats rejecting this littler box as it is quite different from the open concept litter pan. I would say if you want to play it safe then get another litter box with a higher wall rather than this litter box where the cat has to enter from the top.Overall, I would say I am happy with my purchase. Cat litter being everywhere in my washroom is not a problem any more and as long as I am using this litter box I am pretty sure it will stay that way.We bought this top entry box to replace our front entry box. We recently got a puppy who is a little too interested in the kitties' tasty poop treats. He's not very big so it seemed unlikely he'd be able to get in from the top. And he can't. So he's not snacking on cat poop. That's one less thing we need to worry about with him.The other concern I had was that our 12-year-old cats might not adapt well to this style of litter box. They have had no difficulties adapting to it. They may even prefer it.There is certainly less kitty litter on the floor than with our old box - a lot of it falls off their paws onto the lid, and I use a small hand broom to sweep it back into the box. Still smells like a litter box, though. We have this in our mud room, so visitors are no longer treated to a full view of the contents of the box when they come in our house. It may be slightly more difficult to clean than our old box, where the full cover lifted off. With this box, the flat lid comes off easily or opens on hinges, but you have to reach down into the box to scoop it out. Not a big deal for us.It took quite a long time to be delivered to Nova Scotia from the US. Over two weeks. All in all, a good purchase.I’m an RVT (licensed veterinary nurse) and have struggled for years trying to find a litter box solution for my geriatric feline patients who suffer from arthritis. Many cats will void outside of the litter box because the trip inside can be too much for them. What’s great about this litter box is they can stand right up without having to squat, which makes it easier on their joints. The downside is in order for this box to be effective, you need to buy a children’s step-stool or have a small incline (purchase or make yourself) so they can get to the top. I have two elderly cats with arthritis and a young cat who likes to urinate standing up, and this gets the job done with a children’s step-stool alongside this litter box. Just make sure you have 3-4” of litter for your furry friends!
